Sometimes during events, conferences, or even from friends I get the question:”So, what does Endear for Alzheimer’s do?”. I explain to them that we provide needed resources to the families of those with Alzheimer’s. Even after they have seen our sites, read our articles and followed our social networks they still have questions. They have questions, because they use the resources that they need. Our goal is to provide as many resources for families, and Caregivers for free. I understand the emotional and financial stress that they are under and want to lessen them. Below is a summary of what our company does. How we help families, Caregivers, Non-profit organizations, Hospitals, Doctors, Geriatric Care Managers, Senior Housing Operators, Elder Care Attorneys, Financial Advisors, Mortgage Loan Officers, vendors of elder care products, just to name a few. Read the summary to find out how we can help you, and, you might even learn something about why we use an elephant for our logo.

What do Elephants have to do with Alzheimer’s?

In the matriarchal society of the African Elephant, dominant females build up social memory as age, enabling them to recognize familiar faces. Their ability to build on memory is especially helpful in locating separated family members and protecting members of the heard. The leading female emits signals to the rest of the group allowing for a safer environment to breed. The brain functions of elephants allow for acts of endearment. They show signs of grief over a dead family member, can recognize people, places and things as well as retrieve memories of significant moments from the past. As humans we benefit from the same endearing care from our elder family members.

Unlike elephants, as we grow older, we are susceptible to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The memories, knowledge and personalities of those who cared for raised us who we care for the most are deteriorating. It is our duty as the adult children, to care for those who cared for us. Currently, Alzheimer’s is the only cause of death among the top 10 in America without a way to prevent, cure, or even slow its progression.[1]
